TREK TROUBLE AS CENT & BERBER VILLAGES

OF THE HIGH ATLAS MONTAINS

Itinerary

Day 1: Casablanca

Arrival at Casablanca, assistance, transfer to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Casablanca – Marrakech.

In the morning, we will visit Casablanca, the economical Capital of Morocco. First you’ll visit the

central market, the Habous district, the Royal Palace, the Mohamed V square, the residential area of Anfa and the mosque Hassan II. After lunch, departure to Marrakech. Arrive late afternoon. Optional dinner in an oriental restaurant with show. Overnight: Marrakech.

Day 3: Marrakech – Oukaimeden – Tachdirte:

After breakfast departure towards the ski station of Oukaimeden, cross the beautiful Ourika valley, enjoy the panoramic view of the typical Berber villages along the way, arrival to the starting point, meet the team of muleteers & cook, visit the engraving rocks & then have lunch before settling out to climb Oukaimeden summit (3200 m), enjoy the stunning view over Imnane valley & Toubkal Mountains, walk down to Tizi n’Addi pass (2800 m), continue along a mule path down to Tachdirte village. Overnight & Dinner at the Guest house. 2hrs Driver, 5hrs walking.

Day 4: Tachdirte – Imlil:

An easy journey of walk, walking through Tizi n’Tamaterte pass (2279 m), panoramic view over

Imnane & Imlil valley as well as Toubkal summit (4167m), continue through the forest, Tamaterte & TargaImoula village, arrival directly to Aremd our Bivouac point (5 hrs walk).

Day 5: Imlil – Aremd – Sidi Chamharouch – Toubkal Refuge:

Departure in the morning for the refuge passing by the Marabou Sidi Chamharouch, for a visit and then continue rising up to the refuge 3200 m for the night, overnight under the tents (5hrs walk).

Day 6: Refuge – Toubkal summit 4176 m – Aremd

Departure early in the morning about 04h00 for a slowly rise up the refuge 04 hours rise until the summit and 2 hours come down to the refuge for a lunch, afternoon continuation walk down back to Aremd village, overnight at the guest house (3hrs walk up + 6hrs Walk down).

Day 7: Aremd – Marrakech:

After breakfast, drive back directly to Marrakech. Afternoon visit of the city. Overnight at the Hotel/Riad (1,30 hrs drive).

Day 8: Marrakech. Casablanca

Early morning, after breakfast, we will drive toward Casablanca. Private touring, Free day in Casablanca or guided visit of the medina, historical monuments, souks & gardens (optional).

Day 9: Casablanca – Depart

Private transfer to Med V airport in Casablanca, according to flight schedules. Additional Informations:

Duration : 9 days/5 days walk.

Period : From Mars to October:

Level : Easy

Trip : Walking.

Accommodation : Riad or hotel 4 * in Casablanca and Marrakech, tents 2 places with mattress & Berber Houses during the trek.

Climate : Dryness and heat in spring, cold the night in possible winter storm

Leadership : English Berber guide speaking, cook, muleteers.

Luggage & equipment : During the hike, your luggage is carried by mules. However, you should take your personal belongings which you may need during the walks (waterproofs, warm clothing, water bottle, camera, sun cream, etc.).

Walking boots, trek clothing, sleeping bag, personal first aid kit, waterproofs, walking poles, sun lotion, sun glasses…

Clothing (Winter & Summer)

· Good walking boots and socks

· Comfortable shoes/slippers for camp/guesthouse

· Trekking pants

· Lightweight waterproof over-trousers / rain-pants

· Underwear

· Long johns

· T-shirts

· Fleece jacket or warm jumper

· Lightweight windproof/waterproof jacket

· Hat

· Goggles (winter) and sunglasses (summer)

· Lightweight thermal or fleece gloves

Equipment to bring:

· 3 to 4 season sleeping bag

· Walking stick

· Day sack/backpack

· Head torch / headlamp

· Basic First Aid Kit – refer to trip dossier for details

· Ice axe and crampons (winter)

· Water bottle or camel back (recommended)

· Penknife (useful)

Other

· Personal items (e.g. towel, sunscreen, wipes, toilet tissues, antibacterial hand wash)

· Small First Aid Kit including insect repellent, plasters, meds

· Small rubbish bag to carry out what you carry in

· Matches e.g. burn toilet paper

· Trail snacks

· Zip-Up bags for camera

· Repair kit (e.g. needle, thread, duct tape)
