THE TOUR OF ATLAS AND THE DESERT

Merzouga is a village in the Sahara Desert in Morocco , on the edge of Erg Chebbi, a

50km long and 5km wide set of sand dunes that reach up to 350m. Most people are here

to take a camel safari into the dunes, and to get a taste of remote Berber life.

• · Day 1:

Arrival at Casablanca, assistance, transfer to the hotel, overnight.

• · Day 2: Casablanca / Marrakech

In the morning, you’ll visit Casablanca, the economical Capital of Morocco. First you’ll visit the central market, the Habous district, the Royal Palace, the Mohamed V square, the residential area of Anfa and the mosque Hassan II. Optional fish lunch at the Corniche. After lunch, departure to Marrakech. Arrive late afternoon. Optional dinner in an oriental restaurant with show. Overnight: Marrakech

• · Day 3: Marrakech – Ouzoud Waterfalls – The Ksiba

Departure to Ouzoud Falls, a spectacular waterfall on the rock with three slopes more than 100 m. high. Lunch. Then we will see the huge lake of Ben The Ouidane in the magnificent High Atlas. Arrival in Afourer, a small town up in the mountains of Atlas. We will continue to Ben-Mellal, a small town amid the orange groves, olive, fig, pomegranate, apricot, peach … to reach the Berber village of El Ksiba. Night in hostel.

• · Day 3: Ksiba – Imilchil – Gorges Amellago

This way we will discover the splendor of the mountains of Atlas. Visit Imilchil, Berber village located in the bowels of the High Atlas Mountains and takes place every year the famous “moussem of engagement”, held at the end of the harvest, in which young people of different tribes meet to arrange marriages, wedding, or separations. Lunch. We will continue to Amellago gorges and cross the Berber villages and Agdal Ait Hani. Night under nomad tents in the gorges.

• · Day 4: Gorges Amellago – Goulmima – Merzouga

Following the trail to the village of Tadirhoust, Goulmima reach. Take the corniche road which passes through the gorges of the Ziz, the wild ruggedness of the landscape is striking. After a turn, resulted suddenly in the reservoir and the lake of Errachidia, bright red walls in water sink emerald green. We arrive in Erfoud, surrounded by palm trees. From here we enter the desert and the Sea Dunes Merzouga (Erg Chebbi) with its dunes pink, orange and yellow, some of which reach up to 150 m. high. Contemplate one of the best shows that offers the desert, a sunset across the dunes. Dinner and overnight at a lodge at the foot of the dunes.

• · Day 5: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi – Merzouga

After breakfast, we return to the dunes and see: the 2 oasis of Merzouga, nomadic lands, the black hamada, the people of Khamlia (black people), mines MIFISS and Tissardmin oasis. Return to the hostel at about 3 pm. Then, mounted on camels, head to the dunes to attend the sunset and sleep in a wild oasis located two hours away, in the desert. Night under the tent and under the desert stars. Sunrise in the desert…

• · Day 6: Merzouga – Alnif – Todra Gorges

Return to the lodge to take a hot shower and breakfast. Then visit to the city of Rissani-economic capital of Morocco and the country’s first imperial city, “its great souk (market) under the red arches and its many ksours. Then follow the road to the village of Alnif. Lunch. Then, we’ll take the trail that passes through the Jbel Ougnat to Tinerhir and beautiful Todra Gorge where Kasbahs stand guard at the foot of the cliffs. Overnight in a hotel at the bottom of the gorges.

• · Day 7: Gorges du Todra – N’kob – Zagora

We will visit the oasis of Tinghir one of the most beautiful and largest oasis in Morocco. We will go to the town of Iknioun where the track starts flowing through the Jbel N’kob Saghro and reach the port of Tiz N ‘Tazazert. Lunch. Continue along the Draa Valley where there are numerousviewpoints on the wadi filled with oleanders, palms and many ksours to Zagora. Overnight in a hotel in Zagora.

• · Day 8: Zagora – Ait Ben Haddou – Telouet

We will pass through the valley of the Draa and magnificent villages like cross Agdz dominated by its citadel, the red fort and Jbel Saghro before arriving in Ouarzazate. 25 km further, visit the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou (declared World Heritage by UNESCO) and Tamdakht. We will then Telouet. Overnight in a private home.

• · Day 9: Telouet – Marrakech

After breakfast, we will visit the town and the kasbah of Telouet, set in a beautiful place. Then on to Marrakech through the port of Tiz N ‘Tichka. In the harbor, the scenery is magnificent and offers a wonderful mix of colors. Overnight at hotel in Marrakech.

• · Day 10: Marrakech

Marrakesh is Morocco’s, center, with its old town (Medina), its colorful souks, the famous Jemaa el Fna and its animation day and night, its famous landmarks: the Ben Youssef Medersa, the Menara, the Dar Si Said Museum, the garden of Agdal, the Tombs of the Saadians and Badi Palace and the Bahia palace.

• · Day 11 Marrakech – Casablanca

Early morning, after breakfast, we will drive toward Casablanca, private touring. Afternoon, transfer to Med V airport in Casablanca, according to flight schedules.
